How to Make Cold Brew Green Tea with VacBrew

Cold brew green tea is a refreshing, smooth, and naturally sweet beverage that’s easy to make with a VacBrew system. Unlike hot brewing, cold brewing reduces bitterness, bringing out the tea’s delicate flavors. Here’s a simple guide to making the perfect cold brew green tea using a VacBrew.

Ingredients and Equipment

  • Sencha Green Tea Leaves: 5–10 g (we recommend the Muscat infusion for a delightful fruity grape flavor)

  • Cold Water: 500 ml

  • VacBrew System: Including vacuum pump and brewing chamber

Instructions

  1. Add Tea Leaves: Place 5–10 g of sencha green tea leaves into the VacBrew brewing chamber. Adjust the amount based on your preference for strength.

  2. Pour Cold Water: Add 500 ml of cold water to the container with the tea leaves.

  3. Stir: Gently stir the mixture to ensure the leaves are fully submerged and begin infusing with the water.

  4. Close the Lid: Secure the VacBrew lid tightly.

  5. Set Up Vacuum Pump: Place the vacuum pump on top of the container.

  6. Select Timer Program: Choose the 12-minute timer program (blue light) on the VacBrew system.

  7. Steep and Infuse: Allow the tea to steep for 12 minutes. The cold water will gently extract the tea’s smooth and sweet flavors while minimizing bitter compounds.

  8. Vacuum Extraction: After 12 minutes, the vacuum pump will apply pressure, accelerating the extraction process to draw out the full flavor of the tea.

  9. Optional Double Extraction: For a stronger flavor, pour the brewed tea back into the VacBrew container with the same tea leaves and run the manual automatic vacuum extraction (white light). This double pressure extraction enhances the tea’s intensity.

  10. Serve and Enjoy: Once the process is complete, pour the cold brew green tea into a glass and enjoy its refreshing taste!

Tips for Customization

  • Experiment with Brew Time: For a stronger flavor, try extending the brewing time to 30 minutes or more. Adjust to your taste preference.

  • Try Different Teas: While sencha with Muscat infusion adds a unique fruity grape note, feel free to experiment with other green tea varieties.

  • Chill Further: For an extra refreshing experience, refrigerate the tea after brewing or serve over ice.
